This magazine spread is an exploration of layout design and image treatment. The focus of the article is the late sculpture artist Dan Flavin, whose works light up museums and galleries all over the world. I was inspired by the beautiful colors of his pieces and the wonderful symmetry and asymmetry of the photos. I wanted the pages to softly glow and evoke the reflected light on the walls surrounding his pieces. The type is free and not strictly restrained, similar to the way he doesn’t restrain the space his artworks take up. I also designed a cover for the magazine promoting the feature article.
